Student Authorizations/Study Permit
Citizenship and immigration Canada requires that foreign individuals who wish to study at Canadian educational institutions must obtain student authorizations. A Student Authorization is a document issued by immigration Canada officials that permits a foregin individual to study in Canada. generaily at a specific Canadian educational institution and in a specific program, and always for a limited time under the immigration and refugee protecion Act. foreign Nationals who wish to study at a University or Collage or tahe any course of academic professional or vocational training in Canada Must apply for permit at visa offices abroad before arriving in Canada.

Some People may apply at port of entry if they have a letter of accepance from a Canadian educational institution and are Nationals or permanent residents of the United states Residents of Greenland or Residents of Saint- Pierre-et-Miquelon People whose study permits have been approved in writing but to whome the permit have
not been issued

A foreign national may not study in Canada unless he/she is in possession of a study permit it should be noted. however, that if the course or study program lasts for six (6) months or less a study permit is not requrred Immigration Canada will normally issue a student authorization if an applocation has received an acceptance letter from a qualified Canadan educational Institition and possesses sufficient funds to pay for tution and living costs, immigration Canada may require applicants to undergo medical examinations
